7 ❀ video/action/+ another video to the Rocket frequency
[Today's video from Dist opens with a view of him holding a handkerchief close to his face while a male Vileplume looms in the background. While Dist doesn't look at all pleased, the Vileplume seems to be happy about something.
He coughs into the handkerchief, then mumbles something under his breath.]
--ugh, I'll be lucky if I am able to remove the stench from my clothes. It'll take multiple washes at least. This is an absolute nightmare. Thankfully I had a stone on hand...
[After clearing his throat once more, he finally addresses the network directly.]
A word to the wise, [Dist's voice is slightly muffled under the handkerchief.] if you ever own an Oddish, evolve it again as soon as it evolves. Trust me, you do not want to endure a Gloom's noxious scents much longer than that; it is so powerful, it can knock you out with enough of it in small spaces. [It may or may not have almost happened to him.] This is for the preservation of your sense of smell.
That is all.
[Someone might want to remind him that Vileplumes aren't much better, hence the name.]
[action for the Goldenrod Rocket base]
[Rockets in the base might notice a trail of noxious fumes hanging in the halls. Should they investigate, they'll find themselves in the laboratories, specifically Dist's lab. He's trying to get rid of the smell but he's not having much luck, especially when he's trying to clean it all with one hand covering his face. He's grumbling to himself all the while.]
Why must all of my Pokemon be far much more trouble than they're worth?!
[hours after those events, a separate video post to the Rocket frequency]
[Dist is back on the screen, and he's looking much better than he was earlier if you Rockets happened to see that post from a few hours ago...or saw the aftermath in person. He still doesn't look very happy, but he's prone to being kind of grumpy lately anyway.]
Good evening. I realize that there have been many new recruits these past few months, and I would like to properly introduce myself to you all.
[He dramatically places a hand on his chest.] I am Dist the Rose, and I work for the science division. At the moment, I am the only non-native in the division, and as such I am extremely busy. That is why I haven't been paying much to the network as of late, but rest assured that I am keeping up with you all. After all, we cannot afford to have any dead weight in this organization, especially after the hit we took in March.
That said, [He leans back in his seat with his fingers laced. He must be at his work desk since the 'Gear seems to be propped up on something.] Since I am so busy, I would appreciate some assistance in the labs. For those looking to make a good impression on the organization, this would be an opportunity to do so.
[Look at this guy, acting like he's a Beta or someone with actual sway.]
I don't require experience in the field since I won't have you involved in the actual scientific part of my projects. Your job will be assisting with handling and transport of parts, specimen testing, etcetera. And of course, you will be rewarded for your efforts. However, as I hinted at earlier, [in a firm, dangerous tone,] I will not tolerate mistakes.
So please, do drop me a line here if you are in the Goldenrod area and I'll see if we can work something out.
[Just before he cuts the feed out, he remembers something, so he snaps his gaze back to the 'Gear. For once, a sly smile spreads across his face.]
Ah, and this offer applies to all of you non-newbies as well. A little experience goes a long way, after all.

I assure you it was a thousand times worse in direct vicinity of the Pokemon.
Have you tried bathing in tomato sauce?
[That grimace turns into a full-fledged death glare. But before he can be really set off the rails, he opts to take a deep breath instead. He just doesn't have the energy to be that pissed off right now.]
I see you're still on top of your game with the terrible jokes.
... And no, I haven't. That sounds disgusting.
[... Wait a second.
He turns around to examine the Vileplume again. The plant Pokemon continues to smiley innocently at him as he tries to jog his memory. He knows he's seen this plant before, too...
Oh no.
His face pales, and when he turns back to face the 'Gear, he's facepalming.]
Rafflesia, correct?
[It was the one flower he knew to avoid, but he hadn't seen one in so long, he had almost forgotten about them. WHY THIS...]
Granted, it's somewhat difficult to say whether the Pokemon will be as bad, given that they're vaguely sapient, but... I'd suggest that you handle it with care.
Hmph, why do all of us scientists have so many problematic Pokemon...
[He was of course, referring to a former colleague's many posts involving his terribly-behaved Pokemon, but he realizes Kayneth isn't part of Team Rocket, therefore he wouldn't understand the reference, so he immediately moves on.]
Your advice is appreciated. This isn't my first run-in with potentially dangerous Pokemon, as you are aware... [orz that Gyarados post.] I have treated Florus with as much respect as my starter, so I don't foresee him giving me too much grief.
[He's wrong.]

[... He's not sure if that was meant to be a joke though.]

Okay. 'Cause he can play with my Gloom sometimes if hanging around bugs you too much.

Ah, you have a Gloom? How in the world are you able to tolerate the scent?

I've had two Glooms with me for quite a while now and I haven't encountered any problems so far. [And as you might notice from the video, they're out together a lot.]
They say that when a Gloom is calm and secure, the scent won't bother anyone. So it's not really weird that your Gloom had a strong scent right after evolution. [Even though his didn't have, but all of the Pokémon are individuals.]
video
Florus the Vileplume notices the two Glooms, and happily waves at them from behind Dist.]
I would have appreciated that information before he evolved into a Gloom. However, I don't see why he wouldn't be calm. It's not like he was constantly stressed during training.
video
[Either he was lucky or then evolving both Oddish at the same time helped.]
Even though he wasn't stressed, evolution is a completely new thing. His body changed quite a bit so I imagine it must have made him a bit insecure. Though I can't really say for sure, but that's my quess.
[The Glooms answer the wave. Oooh, it's their son. How big he already is. Kids these days.]

[And this is why Dist should never have pets. Obviously he's not too good at reading into their emotions.]
Still, you must have gotten extremely lucky if you haven't had to deal with it at all thus far. Its Pokedex entries severely understated how powerful it is.

[And then as a general statement,]
Beauty is often used to lull victims into a false sense of security. Roses are much the same way.
[ video ]
[ that's what makes pokemon so fun to be around. ]
But of course, that's why a stratagem such as the beauty trap exists, isn't it!

It does sound like a very useful idea though.

[And witnessed Shinn liveblogging from one's stomach.]
But I'd give the top spot to a blanket warning about the Ghost-types. Between their abilities and personalities...

I believe you mean disgusting. Why in the world would you want to be coated in such a horrible smell for days?
[Because he's pretty sure that's what has happened to him and he's practically shaking in revulsion.]
