3 ❀ video
[Okay, the chaos at the base has finally settled down and the network is back to normal. Time to make a post he's been meaning to make...
The video begins with a shot of the evereye-searing flashy Dist from across a table in some nondescript location. Those seem to be pretty common, don't they? On that table rests various evolutionary items: a Razor Claw, Dubious Disc, Dusk Stone, and a Metal Coat which Dist is rolling in his free hand.]
Network, let's talk about evolutionary items. Not how they work, because I am sure that has been speculated to death. I'd like to ask why. Specifically, why do they only work on certain Pokemon? Some make sense, such as the Magmarizer which is obviously geared toward a Magmar. And of course, a Thunderstone would only apply to an Electric type Pokemon.
But what about the Razor Claw? [He sets the Metal Coat down and picks up the claw, examining it in front of the 'Gear's camera.] There are plenty of clawed Pokemon this could apply to, and yet apparently only Sneasel actually make use of it. I'm sure you saw my Metal Coat just now; that is another intriguing one. Currently, only two noted Pokemon have adapted and taken on a metal coating to achieve extra defense.
[Now that he's given enough examples, he sets the Razor Claw down and leans back a bit, propping his chin up with his hand.]
Do you ever wonder if there may be more Pokemon out there ready to use these items to their advantage? Perhaps some Pokemon already have the capability but have yet to be introduced to these items. [A small smile spreads across his lips.] Wouldn't it be absolutely thrilling to be the first to discover a brand new evolution unknown to the masses?
[After letting those words sink in, he ends the video.]
[private video to fellow Rocket scientists]
Speaking of evolution, is anyone in the Goldenrod base available at the moment? [He reaches for that Metal Coat again.] I am about to begin the initial testing for my current project, and a second person is necessary for it.
[Insincerely,] Many thanks.

[video -> action]
With any luck, this experiment will go well.
Walking into the lab, Kato approaches that table, smiling (....well, smirking, really, but that's how we smile around here) and placing his hands behind his back.]]
Quite a collection you've got going here.
[action]
Dist is still leaning back in his chair behind the desk when Kato arrives. He's got Gale's Pokeball in his hand, ready to go.]
Most of them are simply for research at this point, but yes. I'm sure it was rather obvious from my post that I'm quite interested in how limited they are.
[action]
It totally won't be.]]Well, part of being a scientist is pushing the limits of current knowledge, so...I'm rather interested in the results of this project of yours.
[[Imagine being able to upgrade all your Pokemon with a protective steel coat! That would be rather useful....
As he thinks, Kato's ever-present Lunatone materializes out of the air, beginning to slowly rotate as its trainer runs his gloved fingers along the table.]]
What exactly is it that you're planning to do?
[action]
Dist smirks, tapping the center of the Pokeball to enlarge it.]
I intend to push the limits of current knowledge.
[HE'S SO FUNNY AND VAGUE ISN'T HE...]
Come now Doctor Kato, surely you can at least fathom a guess?
[action]
Far be it from me to assume the level of your genius, Dist. Although I feel I can safely say you're not trying to develop a method of coating Pokemon in steel; that would be far too obvious, no?
[[Man now we're just straight up trolling one another; quick, let's pretend to actually be professionals.]]
Or is my hypothesis incorrect?
[[...ok, maybe one more.]]
[action]
This isn't about how obvious it is. You cannot tell me it wouldn't be useful, can you?
[action]
Oh don't worry; I'm not doubting the usefulness of the concept. What I'm interested in is what exactly you need my help with.
[[Ranpu the Lunatone will just hover around his head as he speaks.]]
Because of course, I'm more than willing to assist however you need. Although I'd rather not get my coat dirty, if you don't mind.
[action]
Dist stands and opens the Pokeball to bring Gale out. The Scyther immediately takes a battle stance upon coming out of the ball, but Dist signals her to relax. Still, she eyes Kato and his Pokemon warily.]
For now, all I need is assistance in evolving Gale here. [He reaches for the Metal Coat, then hands it to Gale. The Scyther struggles for a moment to hold the item between her scythed arms, but eventually she steadies it. Once that's through, Dist continues.] I'd like to see the process of held item evolution first-hand so I can get an idea of how it works and how the item is used.
[He smiles...although as per mad scientist traits it's more of a smirk.] No messy work involved.
[action]
This....time....orz.....]]
I would be more than happy to assist, if that is the case. I believe it is a trade evolution?
[[Well then, let him release his Weezing! The thing can't stand him anyway, and the feeling is rather mutual.]]
Do proceed, Dist. Boyle will follow your lead.
[[Or he'll get beaten, lol!!]]
[action]
Dist glances at Boyle, then back to Gale. Wow, he's kinda glad this is only temporary. Boyle isn't much to look at, is he?]
Very well. Gale, I am placing you under Doctor Kato's care for the time being.
[He steps around the table to hand Gale's ball to Kato. It doesn't feel much like a trade if he still has control over her Poke Ball.]
[action]
Do behave yourself for Dist, Boyle.
[action]
Moments pass. One minute. And just when Dist is becoming unsure if this worked out or not, the Metal Coat in Gale's arms begins to glow. The glow quickly spreads up her arms and eventually envelopes her entire body. Dist furiously scribbles notes as the process continues and Gale's glowing body begins to transform. Now standing up straight, she becomes much taller overall, and the scythe arms transform into something much larger and crab-like. When the glow fades, it's very clear that her body has taken on a metallic red armor. A much sturdier Pokemon has come out of this.
Dist gazes upon his newly evolved Scizor, clearly impressed with the transformation.]
Magnificent. And now I have a much better idea of how these items are used for evolution.
[action]
Congratulations on your new Pokemon, Dist. She looks like quite the menace.
[action]
She does, doesn't she? Whatever faults she had during battle are likely going to be gone now.
