3 ❀ video
[Okay, the chaos at the base has finally settled down and the network is back to normal. Time to make a post he's been meaning to make...
The video begins with a shot of the evereye-searing flashy Dist from across a table in some nondescript location. Those seem to be pretty common, don't they? On that table rests various evolutionary items: a Razor Claw, Dubious Disc, Dusk Stone, and a Metal Coat which Dist is rolling in his free hand.]
Network, let's talk about evolutionary items. Not how they work, because I am sure that has been speculated to death. I'd like to ask why. Specifically, why do they only work on certain Pokemon? Some make sense, such as the Magmarizer which is obviously geared toward a Magmar. And of course, a Thunderstone would only apply to an Electric type Pokemon.
But what about the Razor Claw? [He sets the Metal Coat down and picks up the claw, examining it in front of the 'Gear's camera.] There are plenty of clawed Pokemon this could apply to, and yet apparently only Sneasel actually make use of it. I'm sure you saw my Metal Coat just now; that is another intriguing one. Currently, only two noted Pokemon have adapted and taken on a metal coating to achieve extra defense.
[Now that he's given enough examples, he sets the Razor Claw down and leans back a bit, propping his chin up with his hand.]
Do you ever wonder if there may be more Pokemon out there ready to use these items to their advantage? Perhaps some Pokemon already have the capability but have yet to be introduced to these items. [A small smile spreads across his lips.] Wouldn't it be absolutely thrilling to be the first to discover a brand new evolution unknown to the masses?
[After letting those words sink in, he ends the video.]
[private video to fellow Rocket scientists]
Speaking of evolution, is anyone in the Goldenrod base available at the moment? [He reaches for that Metal Coat again.] I am about to begin the initial testing for my current project, and a second person is necessary for it.
[Insincerely,] Many thanks.

[Action.]
Because he has room to talk.He doesn't actually comment though, and simply answer's Gorthan's question.]You just missed it, actually. Kato was able to take the time to come in and assist me with the evolution. I wanted to get it done as quickly as possible so I could confirm some thoughts I had on the process.
[He motions toward the Scizor.] I had Gale evolve from a Scyther into a Scizor for the initial test. As you can see, the Metal Coat did exactly what it was supposed to; she has a completely steel exoskeleton now.
[Action.]
Ah... very well. And the transformation has left the Metal Coat undamaged and still usable...? Are there any parameters that you measured?
[Action.]
The Metal Coat completely disappeared after the evolution, which I assume provided the metal casing that Scizor obtains. [He motions toward his desk, where his PokeGear and notepad lay.] I observed the amount of time the evolution took, the requirements for the evolution, and took notes at length about everything that happened during the evolution. I also recorded it for reference, if you'd like to view a replay.
[He then faces Gale again.] It was rather difficult to fully observe since Pokemon glow when they evolve.
[Action.]
[He nods to himself.]
So the Metal Coat disappeared? How interesting... They fused together, is what you're saying. And I would like to view your recording, if you would be so kind, Rose.
[Action.]
[At Gorthan's request, he picks up his 'Gear and sets up the replay for his colleague to watch. When it's all ready, he hands it over.]
Simply press play and it'll go.
[Action.]
Ah, the glowing is a bit of a hindrance to our studies... We should study a way to prevent it. Maybe a device for the Pokémon to wear, or a special chamber able to absorb the energy that appears to be liberated during the evolution process... but I digress.
Is it true what they say, that a Scizor isn't, overall, stronger than a Scyther - simply slower and with better defenses?
[Action.]
Exactly, and I completely agree with you. I'd like to know what exactly is happen when the Metal Coat is absorbed during evolution, if that is when even happens.
As for whether she is stronger or not...the only way to find out is to use her in battle. I haven't had a chance to do so.
[Action.]
You should remedy that soon, then. Or.
[Gorthan produces one of his Poké Balls.]
We could, right now.
[Action.]
[... It's safe to say by the look on his face that he wasn't expecting Gorthan to actually want to battle. Dist hadn't ever seen the man battle, so he has no idea what he'll be up against.]
Now? Well...
[Gale, who has heard everything, has already taken a battle stance. She will never turn down a request. Dist takes note of this, then nods in Gorthan's direction.]
Very well.
