10 ❀ text + video on the Rocket frequency/action for the Goldenrod base [backdated to 5/16]

[On the evening of 5/15, an interesting text appears on the Rocket filter.]

You are all invited to a very special presentation of Dist the Rose's latest and greatest creation! Stop by the labs in the Goldenrod base at noon tomorrow and feast your eyes upon something you have never seen before.

For those interested but are unable to make it to the presentation in person, fear not. I will also post a recording for your viewing pleasure.

Believe me when I say this is something you do not want to miss. Especially if you'd like to play with my creations yourself.

I look forward to seeing you there!

[As promised, a little after noon on 5/16, a video is posted to all Rockets. For those who chose to attend, this will all go down in real time.]

cut for the presentation )

[[OOC: Pokemon claims reserved for the winners of this OOC lottery. Dist will be standing by to take requests! If you attended/watched the presentation and are a winner of the OOC lottery, feel free to step up and ask for a Pokemon or contact Dist by replying to the post! He'll show off the Pokemon listed in the OOC post and your character can claim whichever one they won.]]

9 ❀ video/private to the rocket frequency

Good evening. This is Dist from the Science Department, gracing your screen once again with another beautiful, magnificent creation.

[Your favorite floral member of the science department is seated comfortably in his fancy floating chair beside a very large machine. And by large, it is large. It's cylindrical, about fifteen feet tall, and the front is like a giant window to see the inside contents. Clearly visible inside is a Pikachu, which seems a bit silly for such a small creature to be sitting inside the gigantic machine. It's as almost as if the machine was made for something clearly much bigger than a small mouse.]

Those of you who have been with us for a while may have heard of my research. Currently, I'm working with evolution. Specifically, evolution through special means: items, trade and the like. My goal for the time being is discovering just what genes are reacting to these items, and why only some Pokemon possess these genes. It's rather difficult to tell this only by watching. Observe.

[Dist holds up a Thunder Stone and places it into a compartment in the back of the machine that connects to the chamber the Pikachu is in. It curiously approaches the stone, and with a bit of hesitation it touches it. The Pokemon is immediately illuminated by a bright white light, obscuring the transformation that takes place. As the evolution begins, an array of lights activate on the back of the machine. Dist continues his explanation as this goes on.]

While the form of the Pikachu is most certainly changing, the actual process cannot be seen. And even then, we aren't able to see genetic changes with the naked eye.

[By the time he's finished talking, the light has faded and a freshly evolved Raichu is now in the chamber, looking very confused as to what's going on. Dist floats his chair over to a computer monitor nearby where data is being fed into it from the evolution chamber.]

Thus, I've designed this machine to record that vital information. If I can pinpoint the genes that trigger special evolution and extract them, imagine the sheer amount of possible uses for them! [He spreads his arms out wide, grinning madly.] There would be no limitations! They could be applied to any Pokemon! I could shake the very foundation of evolution itself!

[Okay, calming down now. Sorry, he was getting really into the mad science thing.]

As you all are aware, there are many ways to evolve Pokemon. Dozens of stones, items, moves, and other conditions trigger evolution for specific Pokemon. That is a lot of data that I need to collect, and I am going to need many different species of Pokemon in order to do that. On top of that, the machine still has some kinks that need to be tested and worked out. As such, I'm asking you all to assist me in obtaining test subjects.

[He floats over to a nearby table and produces a printed list. There's a lot of content crammed into it.]

This list, which I've also attached to this post for your viewing pleasure, details every Pokemon that can evolve through special means along with what is required to evolve it. You needn't worry about the items though, I've compiled a sizable collection for this experiment. Focus only on the Pokemon. Naturally I don't care where or how you obtain the Pokemon, but I want them returned once this test run is complete. Let's keep them guessing, shall we?

[He sets the paper back down and settles back in his chair, expression returning to that classic smug smirk.]

Now you must be asking yourselves, [in a high-pitched and generic voice,] "Why should I go through all the trouble to steal Pokemon for you, Dist? What's in it for me?" Well, I'm not opposed to letting you keep any of the evolved Pokemon. After all, I'll have no use for them once the process is over.

And let's just say that you might be interested in what I intend to do with this data. If you'd like a piece of the finished product, I might be more willing to oblige if you assist me with this rather small task. But for the time being, I'd rather not spoil the surprise. [His smirk thins out.] You'll have to trust me on this one.

Now! Please report in here if you will assist me. I want you to get to work as soon as you possibly can. I'd like for this to progress as quickly as possible.

[And with a snap of his finger, the feed ends.]

[[OOC: This is the beginning of this little plot! I'm still taking volunteers for either Rockets to help with theft or theft victims.]]

8 ❀ video

[The video opens up to a wintery forest landscape, high up in the air as the trees are small and the forest spreads out over the land like a small ocean. Light snow is making its way to earth and big flakes flutter right in front of the camera here and there.

But enough about the scenery because that's not important at the moment. What's really important is what the camera pans to moments later.

The shot pans to a large chair...which makes no sense because it's already been established that the video is been taken from high up in the air. But that chair is definitely there, and it's floating. Not only that, but there's definitely someone sitting in it. The chair lightly bobs up and down in with the winter breeze, and the chair's owner doesn't seem fazed at all by the fact that he's up so high in a floating chair. In fact, he almost seems contemplative as he nonchalantly leans against one of the chair's arms and gazes out toward the horizon.

He quickly snaps out of it though when he realizes the 'Gear is recording. He sits up properly and adjusts his winter attire to make sure he looks good for the camera. Coat adjusted? Check. Scarf in order? Check. Gloves pulled on tightly? Check.]

Oh good, you've managed to activate it. Excellent work, Belle and Cordelia.

[He clears his throat and proceeds.]

Hello, denizens of Johto. Or could this be Kanto? [He offers a shrug.] Such a mystery.

But the location doesn't matter. I have something very exciting to show you all. It's something I've been toying with since I arrived in this world, but I didn't have the proper resources to finish it until recently.

[He gently strokes the arms of his chair as he continues.]

However, I was remarkably blessed with a beloved possession of mine some months ago, so I didn't hesitate to continue this little project to completion.

Behold!

[He makes a small hand gesture to the 'Gear's operator, and the camera zooms out to show the chair in full view. It's definitely floating, no wires or anything. Dist spreads his arms wide and leans himself far back in the chair.]

I've finally properly replicated my mobile chair. It can move according to my will, and can handle distances as high as this and then some, without the need of a flying Pokemon to ride on. Yes, yes, I know how absolutely jealous you are.

Now, I could tell you how I'm achieving this, but that would ruin the effect. Though I'm curious how you all think my chair is capable of such a feat. Go on, take a guess! I do love when people try to piece together my magnificent creations.

[He smirks and leans back to his original position at the beginning of the video.]

But please, no idiotic guesses. Think before you speak.

[With a flick of his wrist, the video ends.]
