8 ❀ video
[The video opens up to a wintery forest landscape, high up in the air as the trees are small and the forest spreads out over the land like a small ocean. Light snow is making its way to earth and big flakes flutter right in front of the camera here and there.
But enough about the scenery because that's not important at the moment. What's really important is what the camera pans to moments later.
The shot pans to a large chair...which makes no sense because it's already been established that the video is been taken from high up in the air. But that chair is definitely there, and it's floating. Not only that, but there's definitely someone sitting in it. The chair lightly bobs up and down in with the winter breeze, and the chair's owner doesn't seem fazed at all by the fact that he's up so high in a floating chair. In fact, he almost seems contemplative as he nonchalantly leans against one of the chair's arms and gazes out toward the horizon.
He quickly snaps out of it though when he realizes the 'Gear is recording. He sits up properly and adjusts his winter attire to make sure he looks good for the camera. Coat adjusted? Check. Scarf in order? Check. Gloves pulled on tightly? Check.]
Oh good, you've managed to activate it. Excellent work, Belle and Cordelia.
[He clears his throat and proceeds.]
Hello, denizens of Johto. Or could this be Kanto? [He offers a shrug.] Such a mystery.
But the location doesn't matter. I have something very exciting to show you all. It's something I've been toying with since I arrived in this world, but I didn't have the proper resources to finish it until recently.
[He gently strokes the arms of his chair as he continues.]
However, I was remarkably blessed with a beloved possession of mine some months ago, so I didn't hesitate to continue this little project to completion.
Behold!
[He makes a small hand gesture to the 'Gear's operator, and the camera zooms out to show the chair in full view. It's definitely floating, no wires or anything. Dist spreads his arms wide and leans himself far back in the chair.]
I've finally properly replicated my mobile chair. It can move according to my will, and can handle distances as high as this and then some, without the need of a flying Pokemon to ride on. Yes, yes, I know how absolutely jealous you are.
Now, I could tell you how I'm achieving this, but that would ruin the effect. Though I'm curious how you all think my chair is capable of such a feat. Go on, take a guess! I do love when people try to piece together my magnificent creations.
[He smirks and leans back to his original position at the beginning of the video.]
But please, no idiotic guesses. Think before you speak.
[With a flick of his wrist, the video ends.]
[private to the Rocket frequency]
[But it doesn't completely end for Rockets! The scene is mostly the same, except now Dist has his feet firmly planted on the ground with the chair floating beside him.]
However, I'm feeling generous for all of you, because you never know, I may very well end up sharing this program with you at some point.
[He brings the 'Gear to the back of his chair where the secret of its flight is revealed: one Magnezone sits sideways in the middle of the chair's back, and two Magnemites are at its sides. They seem to be attached to the chair somehow.]
I've done some research into antigravity in this world, specifically this line's use of it. Now I'm using it to my advantage!
These Pokemon are attached by powerful magnets to keep them in place. Then...
[He moves back to the front of the chair to show off a control panel on the right arm of the chair.]
Using this panel, I send electronic signals straight through the magnets and into the Pokemon so they move according to the commands I input into the panel. The reaction is instantaneous, ensuring a smooth ride.
[He faces the camera straight-on, placing his hands behind his back and smirking the whole while.]
This program can be applied to many things, not just chairs of course, and I'm considering adding the Klink line into the program as well. This method of travel is not only efficient as it utilizes several Pokemon working together that can be swapped out when they begin to tire, but they also create almost no noise. The target will never know you're coming until it's too late.
[He allows himself to slide back into his chair.]
That said, comments and questions welcome. Praise is highly recommended, because let's be honest here, you cannot deny that this is going to help our missions immensely.
[He'll be eagerly awaiting your responses!]

[Sorry, what was that about no idiotic guesses? Don't mind Joker, just playing the fool.]
Still, however you've done it, quite an impressive little thing you've made! Ya must be quite the genius~. So is this an early Christmas gift ta yourself?
no subject
Though I wouldn't dumb it down to simply calling it magic, if we were in my home world then yes, more or less. However, you wouldn't get full points as that is far too vague.
That said, "magic" is not the case here, so feel free to try again.
[He just smiles condescendingly after all of that. Wow, Dist.]
Thank you, thank you. You would be correct to assume that; I am a genius. As for it being a gift to myself...I suppose you could say that. I hadn't thought if it that way, but there's nothing wrong with the idea either. I only deserve the best gifts, after all.

[There was demonic summoning???? But Joker still isn't entirely sure what's up with that, besides the fact that it lead to him dying.]
But if it's not that... [Joker scratches his chin a bit, trying to think of the most advanced technology he knows of. Back in England, it wouldn't have been much but Johto has offered up a lot more ideas.] Steam powered, maybe? Nah, no steam. Maybe you figured out how those psychic types can do all their fancy tricks? Can't say I'm educated enough ta tell ya how it'd work, 'tho...
[He's really just throwing out whatever comes to mind.]

That said, a floating chair is very cool and Archer can definitely see where this would be useful for transportation.
Archer is wearing the usual blue military uniform when the feed clicks on, and he's smirking broadly.]
It's good to see someone's been working on something productive.
[That isn't actually a jab at anyone in particular, he's just pleased to see some progress.]
I would like to see your work in person when I return to the base, but I trust you've shown our superiors? I imagine they'll be very impressed by what you have to show them.
Oh, I'm certainly not the only one. The science department is booming these days, didn't you know?
[... He actually has to pause there. Since when did he get so modest? The hell, Dist. Still, he'll gladly accept those compliments.]
I have not, actually. This is my first test run after fully training the ah, components. [Basically those poor Pokemon back there.] But they seem to be in working order, so I can properly demonstrate for the Executives.
I must say I agree with you, though. I fail to see how they could not appreciate such an ingenious design.
[Sure they have machines that can fly but helicopters are noisy. This will be much more efficient!]

[locked video]
You've been busy.
[He's rather obviously impressed, and there's a smirk in his voice.]
[locked video]
What can I say? The desire to be reunited with my complete chair was a strong motivator.
And this is only one of my current projects.
[Because if there's anything we know about the science department, it's that they are all overachievers.]

Leaning back, Kato crosses his arms and continues to smirk. You know, for a change.]
Is that so? Do I get a sneak preview of what you're working on?
[...are we going to make Caroline's chair float away because he's down for that]

[Admittedly, Cobra finds the idea of a stealth floating chair sort of stupid, but...yeah the potential for this is brilliant.]
Just think of what can be accomplished with an innovation like thissss!
[locked video]
But no it is stupid.]
You flatter me, Commander. But I'm pleased you've recognized the usefulness of this venture. It will go well with that strike you have planned in January, wouldn't you say?

[It's nice to know that there are other worlds out there where floating like this doesn't involve creating convoluted mechanisms.]
I don't see why not. It has no limitations with how far it can go up, save for how far I can go while sitting in it.

Well, given the sort of technology that exists in this world, I wouldn't be surprised if it was just something you managed to find and attach to your chair... but I imagine it's a little more creative than that, or you wouldn't be posing the question in the first place.
But wow, he's on the right track already. Dist was right to not doubt Kayneth's intelligence.]
A bit more creative, yes. There's more at work here than simple attachments.
admittedly he might run into a snag on the basis that he ignored the weird electronic things because teeeech but]
Well, given that everything here revolves around Pokemon and they're the most magical things here... if it's not technology, it's definitely a Pokemon at work. Furthermore, I'd also presume that it has the ability Levitate, but it would have to be strong enough to carry both the chair and a grown man.

You're most likely using a pokemon to do it. It's either an electric, flying, psychic or ghost type. I can take flying types off that list, since I can't see any wings on that thing.

[Yeah, he heard that. When you're constantly talked about behind your back, you get good at hearing mumblings.]
As for your guess, congratulations on eliminating the obvious. But you're going to narrow it down further, I'm afraid.
[So basically, Killua's on the right track.]
