for those curious about what he does: Dist is a God-General and the head of the research/science division in the Oracle Knights. Because he is a genius with machines, he builds most of the machines and weapons for the Knights. His own weapon of choice is a line of giant robots called Kaiser Dists.

He is deeply involved with a forbidden practice known as Fomicry. Fomicry is the replication of living and non-living things. Dist is partially behind the creation of the practice as he invented the first replication machines.

Anything can be replicated so long as you can extract replication data from the original. It is possible to fix a broken object by making a perfect replica of it before it was broken. However, humans are much more difficult to replicate, and they often do not retain the memories of the original. Unstable replicas are prone to falling apart soon after creation. On some occasions, once their replica data is extracted, the original can die. In worst case scenarios, replicas can go berserk and kill.

What Dist is trying to do is create a replica of his long-deceased professor that retains the memories of the original. So far, a successful way of doing this has yet to be found.
