[Before he turns the power on, Dist figures he ought to explain fonons a little further.]
Yes, Seventh. There are seven types of fonons, each affiliating with a certain property. The Seventh Fonon is that of sound. The other six are shadow, earth, wind, water, fire, and light, respectively.
[With that said, he goes ahead and follows Rideaux's instructions...
He can't help but smirk when it boots up and he's greeted by Rideaux's background wallpaper. Because of how rough around the edges Rideaux comes across, seeing him posing with cute stars surrounding him is like seeing an entirely secret side of him.]
From initial appearance alone, this seems like a miniaturized computer system. Very interesting... [He breaks his gaze away from the phone and holds it up for Rideaux.] It takes pictures as well?
Hm. I could have guessed the others, but I wouldn't have expected sound to be included. Interesting.
[ does that make sonui users seventh fonists
He frowns a little at that smirk, but whatever; it's obviously a nice picture he has no problem showing off, or he wouldn't have set it as his wallpaper. He likes filters and stamps, so sue him. ]
That's fairly accurate. And yes, that's one of the newer features they've been developing recently. The next generation's cameras are supposed to have much higher image resolution.
They're not included by default, but there are extra applications you can install on it that allow you to do some minor editing and add effects and decorations.
And god, he would put a 100% rose filter on all of his selfies if he had the ability to take them.]
This is incredible. Perhaps I shall have to look into creating something like this in Auldrant.
[Time for Dist to go back home and invent smartphones I guess. He just needs to get past that pesky Seventh Fonon problem...
Anyway, he gets up to bring the GHS back to Rideaux. Probably for the best to let him demonstrate rather than poking through his stuff. You know, just because of how Rideaux tends to be.]
How do the other functions that you spoke of work, then?
[ Actually why am I talking like Beauty Cam and Line Camera existed on flip phones, he probably just took a picture of a printout from a purikura booth. I just gave GHS technology an upgrade, I guess. ]
For voice calls, there's a speaker up here at the top and a microphone down here, so you can just hold it next to your ear to speak to someone and hear them at the same time.
[ Pointing both of these out... Then he moves the phone slightly out of view for a second to put in his passcode. And we're in. ]
Each person's device has a specific series of numbers that you input in order to connect with it, which you can save in your contact list.

There's an unread one from Bisley K Bakur that he pauses at momentarily and then deliberately ignores. He opens up the one below it from Ivar instead, which shows the following heartfelt conversation:

And you enter the words with the buttons here.

[It's fine, he has an advance model just because he's That Important.
Dist watches attentively, internally jotting down notes to think about later. This is all very fascinating...though he wonders who got the dubious honor of being labeled "Asshole".
(this implies that Jade wouldn't block him on sight, but he'd totally have something similar for his label)]
Thank you for the demonstration. It really is a remarkable piece of technology. I must begrudgingly admit that I am rather envious!
[ It is actually very weird that more people haven't heard him complain about Julius here, come to think of it. ]
A decade, give or take. Another department of the company I work for developed them, actually, so we're usually among the first to get to try out any new models.

The smirk is by no means a mocking one. In actuality...]
This is a very charming picture of you. Does the program include the ability to add these stamps and whatnot?
[Teach him about selfies, Rideaux...]

I know.
